Aerospace: AFNOR Certification accredited by COFRAC and QUALIFAS for EN 9100 certification version 2009

AFNOR Certification is one of the first European certification bodies to get accredited by COFRAC and QUALIFAS to conduct audits and issue certificates according to the 2009 version of EN 9100 “Quality Management Systems - Requirements for Aviation, Space and Defence Organizations”.

EN 9100 certification is an absolute must for a supplier to maintain its position in the aerospace industry. Since the beginning AFNOR Certification has been contributing to the reliability of this scheme in partnership with GIFAS, representative body of the aerospace activity in France, and QUALIFAS, Association for Quality Supplies for the French Aerospace Industries.

Since 31/01/2011, AFNOR Certification is accredited by COFRAC, the French committee for accreditation, and QUALIFAS to conduct audits and issue certificates according to the 2009 version of EN 9100. Therefore AFNOR Certification continues to support the aerospace companies, including its 660 French and international client’s sites in the transition to this new version.

The main changes made to the standard EN 9100 include a widen scope to land- and sea-based systems for defence applications as well as new requirements based on stakeholder needs like principles of risk management, project and configuration management, product quality improvement

Until 1st July 2011, companies can choose to be audited in accordance with EN 9100 version 2003 or 2009. After this date all audits will be conducted according to the 2009 version.
