Cronobacter spp. and Yersinia enterocolitica - Tenders for the development of detection methods

Food Safety - AFNOR, in the context of European standardization work, is looking for two project managers for the development of detection and validation methods of the bacteria Cronobacter spp. and the bacillus Yersinia enterocolitica to strengthen consumer protection.

CEN is mandated by European Commission to provide standardized and validated reference methods within the framework of food hygiene legislation including production environment.

Standardized validated methods are indeed of major importance to ensure uniform application and control of Community legislation in all member states.

AFNOR is the French member of standards networking bodies at a European and international level. AFNOR detains the secretariat of CEN/TC 275/WG 6 (CEN/TC 275 is the Technical Committee on Food analysis - Horizontal methods and WG 6 is the working group dedicated to Microbiology with the scope of food, feed and samples of primary production).

The mandated work will be done within CEN/TC 275/WG 6. AFNOR will deal with the administrative management of the standardization work.

The tenders cover the following projects:

  • Microbiology of food and animal feed – Horizontal method for the detection of presumptive pathogenic Yersinia enterocolitica
  • Microbiology of food and animal feed – Detection of Cronobacter spp.

The main tasks of the project leaders:

  • Validation / Revision of EN ISO 10273 (for the project "Detection of Yersinia enterocolitica");
  • Organization of group meetings and discussions on the results;
  • Close monitoring of the project and reporting to the CEN / TC 275/WG 6;
  • Organization of collaborative studies (tenders for laboratories, sample preparation and organization, preparation of validation report, etc.);
  • Evaluation of the technical comments provided at meetings and during the votes;
  • Preparation of interim and final report for submission to the European Commission;
  • Validation of the final version for publication.

Tenders shall be received before 15th September 2011.
