Overall ISO 9001 certification for Schneider Electric’s “Power” business unit – testimony

Committing their Canadian, American, Chinese, Mexican and Indian sites to obtain a single ISO 9001 certification delivered by one and the same assessor, the Schneider Electric Group’s “Power” business unit chose AFNOR Certification. Testimony from Rémi Le Hen, who headed the initiative.

The Schneider Electric Group selected AFNOR Certification to accompany them in carrying out the project – a traditional company assessor in France which had already overseen certification of the Group’s Grenoble sites. “AFNOR Certification gave us the choice as to how audits should be organised – an auditor in France and local auditors in each country, or a single auditor for all sites”, explains Management System Manager Rémi Le Hen, who is heading the initiative. “We opted for the latter alternative and are very pleased we did so. A single auditor brings a more coherent vision to the task, knows our management’s expectations, and looks for and highlights points in common… The audit report to the Group’s management carries all the more weight in that the auditor can say for all sites, “I saw such and such a feature… / I observed such and such good practices…” AFNOR Certification’s collaboration met all our expectations to the full”.

One of the results? “Extension of the certification has led to the creation of a bond, and to the strengthening of the sense of belonging to a single business unit and, beyond that, to Schneider Electric as a whole. Our colleagues from China to India to the United States feel that they are all part of the same team, and are proud of being so”, Mr. Le Hen concludes.
