In any kind of structure, technical developments on production facilities will usually go far slower than in the other departments. However, they do have to be pushed through, and technical upgrading is so critical to business pressure in terms of increasing productivity and responsiveness that today's production function has to be capable of reconfiguring its production facilities in record time.
