Drafting aviation standards

Voluntary aviation standards are developed by aviation professionals in committees that bring together all stakeholders with the aim of serving the public interest. The most well-known of these is NF EN 9100, which establishes the framework for a quality management system specifically for this sector.
But as technologies evolve, there is always a need for new best practices to serve as benchmarks.

France's Standardization Strategy for 2025–2030

The French Standardization Strategy for 2025–2030 devotes a section to the field of space services and applications, where standardization is intended to facilitate the development of new markets for the use of space systems. France spearheaded the creation of ISO/TC20 SC 14 WG8 (Downstream Space Services and Space-based Applications) and is currently developing its work program. It is a leader in standardization activities at the European level, leading projects related to the development of methods for evaluating the performance of GNSS receivers.
The leading standards body for this sector: the Office of Aerospace Standardization (BNAE), acting on behalf of AFNOR.
