Implementing a low-carbon approach in three steps

A greenhouse gas emissions assessment (BEGES, also known as a carbon footprint®) is an evaluation of the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere over a year by an organization's activities. The Grenelle 2 law of 2010 defines several categories of entities subject to this requirement, including companies with more than 300 employees. Emissions are ranked according to a classification system that identifies the areas on which the decarbonization strategy should focus. The calculation of a BEGES is based on a standardized methodology. The NF EN ISO 14064-1 standard details the different scopes to be taken into account: direct emissions (scope 1), associated emissions (scope 2), and indirect emissions (scope 3).
