Why adopt a CSR approach?
Population growth, an aging population, water conservation, sustainable and shared mobility, the decentralization of energy systems, the effects of climate change… The city of the 21st century faces a multitude of challenges. It is against this backdrop that the concept of the “smart city”—or “ville durable” in French—has emerged.
To support this transition, AFNOR provides several international standards to relevant stakeholders, such as NF ISO 37101, NF ISO 37104, and NF ISO 37122.
Sustainable development applies not only to cities but also to rural areas. All regions must take action to promote sustainable development. ISO 26000, the universal framework for CSR initiatives, is therefore a fundamental resource for local authorities. They can even obtain certification based on this standard by undergoing an audit: the “Engagé RSE” label then becomes “Engagé RSO”!
