Why focus on environmental protection?

The issue of digital trust is not limited to security. Digital technology will also inspire trust if it is environmentally friendly and respectful of people.
However, the environmental impact of digital technology is enormous, with significant pollution and hidden drawbacks: for devices, the use of metals and rare earth elements that are unevenly distributed across the globe and whose extraction and refining are polluting; planned obsolescence; the complicated dismantling and recycling of end-of-life equipment; high energy consumption by data centers and associated greenhouse gas emissions; electromagnetic radiation from wireless technologies; and more.
This line of questioning gave rise to responsible digital technology. The AFNOR Group’s solutions provide answers to these challenges, or at the very least, set the stage for limiting the impact at its source.
