Digital Twins: Rethinking the Built Environment and Territories

The digital twin is transforming the way we design, operate, and manage buildings, infrastructure, and regions. By bringing together key data (energy, mobility, water, biodiversity, climate, etc.), it enables us to anticipate trends, optimize performance, and make more informed decisions.

To fully realize its potential, one challenge must be addressed: interoperability. Common reference frameworks are essential to ensure reliable data exchanges between stakeholders and solutions. That is why AFNOR Standardization is undertaking standardization work at the European level to define a common framework: vocabulary, classifications, maturity levels, evaluation criteria, and quality indicators.
