The French Standardization Strategy for 2025–2030 devotes numerous sections to industry, particularly Industry 4.0, which it defines as the integration of digital technologies into manufacturing and management processes.
Standards for the interoperability of industrial systems, such as IEC 62264 on industrial automation, enable companies to integrate Internet of Things technologies, robotics, and artificial intelligence into their operations.

The key challenges for France include system interoperability, cybersecurity in connected industrial environments, data sovereignty, and the long-term viability of technological investments.
