On June 22, 2026, AFNOR will celebrate its centenary! It was on June 22, 1926, that the French standardization association was created, which today is responsible for a mission of general interest.
In 2026, the AFNOR association and its subsidiaries form an international group serving the sustainable development , which supports economic, social, and environmental transformations by designing solutions based on voluntary standards to bring about the foundations of a more reliable, sustainable, and collective future.
Faced with current challenges, the AFNOR Group has a mission of great responsibility in the confidence building , in all areas and with all stakeholders. And for the next 100 years, to meet the next 100 challenges, we want to make our brand the voice of our collective strength and expertise, with an ever-stronger identity!
One hundred years of AFNOR in three figures
For its centenary, AFNOR is communicating with the logo shown opposite. The number 1 represents measurement and the universal language of units of measurement; the first zero represents Deming's wheel and the arrows of the circular economy, the challenge of tomorrow; the second zero reflects the new challenges of digital technology, for which trust must be built.

If standards have been around for a hundred years, that's proof that we need them! In 2026, AFNOR will mark its centenary by stepping up its communication on the benefits of voluntary standards and explaining how they differ from regulations, complementing them.

In 2026, AFNOR is taking advantage of its centenary to strengthen its identity! In our communications, which retain the purple color As you know, our media are taking on a new look, with a protective radius on the upper inner edge, as is the bar of the F in our logo.
Structuring and immediately recognizable, this frame is a strong marker of our identity. It echoes our mission and the function of voluntary standards, which provide the framework , illuminate, highlight the right direction, and chart the course for the future.
