The French Electrotechnical Committee (CEF) has just appointed Carine Glas, currently Vice President of Standardization and Influence at Schneider Electric, as Chair of the CEF, and Pascal Terrien (EDF) as representative of electrotechnical standardization stakeholders.
Following approval by the AFNOR Board of Directors, their candidacies will be put forward for election by AFNOR members at its General Assembly in June 2025. Once Schneider Electric has been elected as a director, Carine Glas will be appointed by the AFNOR Board of Directors as Chair of the CEF Committee and will thereby become a member of the Board's Executive Committee.
Standardization: a powerful lever for a sustainable, carbon-free world
Within AFNOR, the CEF acts as the national committee responsible for representing France's interests in European and international electrotechnology standardization bodies. It brings together manufacturers in the electrical and electronics sector, electricity producers and suppliers, electricity network operators, conformity assessment bodies, electrical installers, technical organizations, users, and integrators in the electrotechnical sector.
"I am honored by the trust placed in me and intend to continue the work begun by my predecessor, Gilles Nativel. I am fully aware of the challenges facing French standardization today and am particularly motivated to represent and defend it at European and international level in order to support innovation and competitiveness in our industry. Faced with the challenges of energy and climate transition, it is essential to remember the key role of standards: they structure, secure, and accelerate change," emphasized Carine Glas, the newly appointed president of the CEF.
"It is important to me to represent the voice of electrical technologies on the AFNOR board of directors, and it is both an honor and a pleasure, but also a duty, to take on this role in the near future. We have a duty to defend our vision of a sustainable, carbon-free and equitable world, and to help make standardization a powerful lever for achieving this," said Pascal Terrien, appointed representative of stakeholders in electrotechnical standardization on the AFNOR board of directors.

Two remarkable careers, from R&D to standardization
Carine Glas has been with Schneider Electric since 2005, holding several R&D-related positions that led her to become an ambassador for French innovations in energy management. Now Vice President of Standardization and Influence, she leads the standardization strategy and facilitates a community of experts to contribute externally to the creation of new standards in energy management at the national, European, and international levels.
Pascal Terrien joined EDF in 1997 and has spent his career in R&D, leading several programs on energy efficiency and sustainable cities. He is also chair of the Smart Energy System committee of the IEC, the international counterpart of the CEF.
