Drafting nuclear safety standards
Voluntary nuclear standards are developed by nuclear professionals through committees that bring together all stakeholders, with the public interest in mind.

The most famous of these is the ISO 19443 , which offers a quality management system based on ISO 9001 that is tailored to the nuclear energy sector’s supply chain, which provides products and services critical to safety. But as technologies and practices evolve, there is always a need for new best practices to serve as a reference.
France plays an active role in the governance and work of ISO/TC 85, ISO/TC 47/SC 3, and IEC/TC 45, enabling it to play a key role in the development of international nuclear standards.
The leading standards body for this sector: the Office of Nuclear Equipment Standards ( BNEN ), on behalf of AFNOR.
