These standards are developed by professionals in the relevant field, in collaboration with all stakeholders, in a spirit of consensus and the public interest.
Since France’s goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector by 90% by 2050, the electrification of mobility is a key area. Standardization work is being carried out within ISO/TC 22 on road vehicles, under France’s leadership. A special effort will be made to strengthen standardization in the area of vehicle range, with an emphasis on system reliability.

Other standardization topics in this field include battery technologies, smart charging, vehicle-to-network communication, power delivery to moving vehicles, the development of alternative fuels (second- and third-generation biofuels, carbon-free hydrogen), transportation data, freight transport, logistics, ports and terminals, active and non-motorized transportation, sustainable aviation, and rail transport.
