Become certified in water management
Water management is becoming a critical issue. Whether it’s conserving water resources, treating or recycling wastewater, or designing treatment equipment, we have solutions to help you maximize the impact of your efforts.
Our key certifications in water management
- A key differentiator for your public sector clients
- A way to highlight your efforts toward water conservation
- A globally recognized standard: ISO 46001

Why get certified in water management?
In France, the publication in 2024 of a List of the 50 industrial sites with the highest water consumption highlights the limitations of current measures (laws, guidelines, assessments, etc.) in achieving a sustainable reduction in water consumption. The government’s water plan aims to reduce water withdrawals by 10% by 2030. The ISO 46001 standard provides recommendations, particularly regarding:
monitoring and measurement
documentation, specifications, design, and procurement practices for equipment, systems, and processes
hiring staff to help manage water use effectively.
You can demonstrate that you comply with it in every respect, thereby highlighting your best practices in your responses to requests for proposals by having your water efficiency management system certified. You can also engage a AFNOR BAO expert to prepare for it.

Water equipment: Apply for NF certification

Pipes, faucets, water heaters, water treatment systems, testing kits… It is important to emphasize that the equipment you sell delivers high-quality performance. In an industry where poor quality leads to leaks and costly damage, the NF mark serves as a seal of quality and is recognized as such by consumers.
The water analysis sector, for example, has expressed a need to implement rapid testing kits. AFNOR Certification has therefore developed the NF Certification in the field of microbiological water analysis. To display this on your products, you must request an audit. You should also follow the standardization efforts regarding methods for detecting perfluorinated substances (PFAS) in drinking water (draft NF EN 17892 ).
Reasons to choose AFNOR Certification
- A trusted and recognized third party
- Comprehensive expertise in standards and benchmarks
- A large pool of auditors
For more efficient water management
“ “Today, we want to expand the management systems already in place (which are based on ISO 14001 or ISO 50001) to ensure more efficient water management,” says Erwan Chagnot, head of AFNOR Bretagne and technical advisor for water at AFNOR, who will also lead a workshop on March 11 during the Conference on Water Conservation.
