Why is effective water resource management important?

In France, tourism capacity is largely concentrated along the coast and in the mountains. These areas are home to water resources that are sometimes fragile and cannot withstand the environmental pressures caused by sudden fluctuations in population.
These seasonal influxes also generate wastewater that must be collected and treated in accordance with regulations. At the same time, high tourist density contributes to increased land development, along with the erosion and flooding that this can cause.
