Call for Experts: Help Shape the Future of European Digital Ticketing Interfaces (EUDIT API)

The European Commission, through the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), is funding experts to participate in the EUDIT project, a new initiative to develop a European Standard (EN) for digital interfaces (APIs) that will transform how transport tickets are distributed across Europe.

Topic 8 – Project Scope

Today, passengers booking multimodal journeys, combining trains, buses, metros, and other modes, often face fragmented and incompatible distribution systems. This lack of interoperability creates barriers to seamless travel and discourages the use of sustainable transport options.

The EUDIT project seeks to address this by developing a standardized, open, and inclusive API that will:

  • Facilitate easy access, integration, and sale of transport tickets across multiple platforms and operators
  • Enable true interoperability between different systems and services
  • Support fair competition and innovation in the European ticketing ecosystem

Building on previous EU-funded work, notably the CoRoM project, the initiative will deliver a technical solution that aligns with existing legislation and standards.

The standard will be designed to ensure:

  • Consistency with TAP TSI for rail and the MMTIS Regulation for multimodal travel information
  • Strategic alignment with the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy

Coordination and Expert Involvement

The project will be led by CEN with support from AFNOR and carried out under CEN/TC 278/WG 3 (Public Transport) in close collaboration with key stakeholders from across Europe.

The resulting European Standard will boost competition, simplify travel for passengers, and foster innovation in digital mobility services.

Why Join?

As an expert, you will:

  • Shape a landmark European Standard for digital ticket distribution
  • Collaborate across sectors, connecting transport operators, MaaS providers, and technology stakeholders
